Microsoft Visual C# and .NET

Microsoft makes a vast array of programming technologies that only work on its Windows platform. It's Visual Studio, C#, .NET and MSDN products and services are widely used. C# is largely Microsoft's answer to the success of Sun's Java, but it has not yet taken it over in popularity. This is most likely because it doesn't offer a compelling enough step forward.

In order for a market to migrate to a new technology, the new one must present not only some advantages - it must present quite significant advantages to offset the cost of migration.
