Grid Computing

Grid computing is distributed compuation powerded by sharing, selection, and aggregation of a wide variety of computational resources acting temporarily as a single, unified resource for solving specific problems. How powerful can a grid be? What are the applications? How can grid computing provide more efficient use of existing computing resources? Can it be used to enable new applications or new ways of solving problems? Can existing applications be adapted to run on a grid?
