Only email from people I know?
Do I get this right that every individual who sends me email will have a personal version of my email address?
[That is correct. Not necessarily every person, but every "channel". Each time you expose your email address you essentially create a new one that is assigned password-protected signed for that channel. AT]
How does this work with people whom I don't know and who want to/need to send me an email? They need to contact me and ask for an email address, but how do they do that (without a face-to-face contact)? Currently they grab my address from a web page (I know, just like spammers, but they are legitimate senders). Will there be some sort of directory service for this situation?
[First contact is a tricky one. You need to think carefully why you are exposing your email address on your web site. What are people contacting you about? If this is a business front door, than you would be better off creating a contact form, and a confirmation message for the email address they provide. This gives you a foothold on the relationship.
Alternatively you could post a Segmail address for user "web" and rotate it frequently. AT]
