That is a reasonable suggestion.

I wasn't necessarily thinking in terms of a central server like "segmail.com" - I was thinking in terms of each person having their own domain as is the case many times now.

In the case of several users sharing the same server (or even a centralized service), the username could be parsed out of the:

john-tom-bfasbfka@segmail.com

...so Segmail would notice the "john-" - and pass it to John's Segmail box.
