No longer clutters the Internet domain namespace

If I understand correctly, each mailbox has to be in its own domain. I wonder whether the existing domain name system can handle such a multiplicity effectively. Why not pack all user names into the domain segmail.net and distinguish by user name and not by domain name? The user name could have a constant part and a variable part for the password.
