Hiding versus Easy-of-Use

Only one additional suggestion: You cover the point of higher level languages giving you less control but I think that this point is worth stressing even further. I see this as HIDING what is going on from the computer user. Making things easier for the user involves keeping that user less informed. Thus we have many computer users who use their machine simply as a kind of high class typewriter and who know nothing much except how to turn the machine on and off, how to call up the program and use it, and how to print their results.
