SSH & HTTPS

SSH stands for secure shell. It is a group of technologies that allow you to secure a transmission such that third-parties cannot read it. This is useful on the Internet where data passed through numerous untrusted third-party networks before it reaches its destination.

A related technology is HTTPS which is similiar to SSH over the web. It allows you to use a web site without intermediate third-parties being able to see what you are doing.
